The Department of Elementary Education at Van Yuzuncu Yil University in Turkey has been working to improve the quality of pre-service teacher training. ## Problem Statement The traditional pre-service teacher training methods, such as lectures and readings, were not effective in preparing future teachers for real-world classroom situations. Additionally, the limited resources of the classrooms made it difficult for trainees to gain practical experience. ## Solution The department decided to use VR technology to create a simulated classroom environment where trainees could practise teaching without the limitations of a physical classroom. The trainees were required to interact with the virtual students, lead a lesson, and manage the class just as they would in a real classroom. ## Benefits After the use of VR trainees reported feeling more confident and prepared for real-world classroom situations. The VR training module allowed trainees to practise in a safe and controlled environment, without the risk of making mistakes that could negatively impact real students.
